In the 1841 census Alexander and Isabel were living in Arbroath with their children.

Alexander Swankie's death certificate gives his mother's maiden name as Cargill, I think this is a mistake by the person registering the death, I can find no record of a marriage between John Swankie and Jean Cargill, nor is there a record of the birth of Alexander Swankie before 1854 other than this Alexander and his son.
